Client Brief:

To produce a set of moody black and white portraits of each of the 12 drivers that will be racing the new Ford GT in 2016. These images are to be used in the Ford hospitality area at the World famous Le Mans 24hr race as well as being distributed for editorial use.

Background:

After seeing my Sport as Art project on LinkedIn, Ford UK contacted me to float an idea. This is the first time in 50 years that Ford have raced a GT car at Le Mans and that is kind of a big deal, and so they wanted to add another tool to their marketing arsenal. Everyone is familiar with the bright smiling images of racing drivers looking all polished, and theses photos will of course still be what some want to see. But Ford wanted more. They wanted to appeal to readers of other magazines such as GQ and Mens Health who may be used to a different sort of image.

This collection of images is the result of that idea. After multiple shoots in three different countries I am proud to present a selection of the final images. If you’re lucky enough to be at Le Mans this weekend, then see if you can spot them.
